Use a 20x20-meter/22x22-yard area for the exercise. With four cones placed at the vertices, create a rhombus inside the playing area. The fifth cone goes in the center of the rhombus. The four cones representing the vertices of the rhombus are all located at a distance of 8-9 meters/9-10 yards from the central cone.
The players arrange themselves as in the picture; they develop the passing sequence and movements on the left and then move to the right side of the rhombus and repeat the same sequence in the opposite direction. Thus continuously for 5 minutes always varying the starting positions of the players in the sequence.
- The sequence of ball transmissions starts from player A in possession of the ball, positioned in the center near the low vertex cone of the rhombus
- The player in the center of the rhombus E, closer to the ball, attacks the empty space (right area of the rhombus)
- The other player in the center of the rhombus D, farthest from the ball, with opposite movement to E, moves to support in order to receive the ball, makes a switch of play on the vertex opposite to player C and moves closer in support of the teammate to whom he has passed the ball
- At the same time, player A moves to a central position in the space vacated by player E
- Player B goes to take A's place on the low vertex of the rhombus
At the end of the sequence we will have:
E as right vertex, B who has replaced A, C (who is now in possession of the ball) has not moved and A and D are in the center of the rhombus on the vertical line. So the vacant position now is where B was positioned (left vertex of the rhombus).
We will develop the same passing sequence in the right area of the rhombus with reverse ball turn: we start again from the starting point (low vertex in ball possession - player C), the player in the center closest to the ball D goes to attack the depth by losing the marker toward the free lateral cone, player A opens to support with opposite movement than D to receive the pass. The other players perform the movements as in the points above and so on for the entire duration of the exercise.
- Perform one-touch or maximum two-touch ball transmissions (receiving and passing)
- Pay close attention to body posture for ball receiving and field vision
- Take care of the receiving foot, i.e., with which foot to perform ball controls to direct the next play
- Take care of the timing of movement in rotations, made according to the movement of teammates and the speed of the ball
